Where it is used
Low-speed assemblies with high axial force: screw presses, jacks, extruders and injection moulding machines, vertical mills, drilling rig swivels, crane hooks.
When not to use
It takes no radial load and does not tolerate tilting of the washers: lack of parallelism causes edge contact and spalling of the roller ends, so it does not replace a spherical roller thrust bearing. In a fast assembly it does not replace a thrust ball bearing: there is sliding along the roller length, so heat generation increases.
