Where it is used
Wheel hubs of passenger cars, light trucks and trailers. Some designs have a flange and an ABS sensor ring, in which case the unit also measures wheel speed.
When not to use
It is not dismantled or replaced by a pair of separate bearings of the same dimensions: the preload is set at the factory, and the seals and sensor ring are part of the unit, not an accessory. The reverse also applies: where the clearance is adjusted with a nut during assembly, a ready-made unit is not fitted.
